Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Rachell Nichole...
Welcome Rachell, so great to have you here with us.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hi, it’s so nice to be here. Thanks for having me.  I’m a contemporary erotic romance author. I love words and books and travelling. And I particularly like writing and reading about really damaged characters. J I live in New York with a loving family, a mountain of books, and an evil cat named Godiva that I adore!

Do real life events find their way into your stories?
All the time. There are quite a few Christmas traditions that I’ve grown up with that made their way into Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce. For instance, we ALWAYS watch Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated version) on Christmas Eve. And we always open one present each Christmas Eve as well. There are other real life things that have cropped up in other books as well.

Do you ever mimic family members or people you know when you choose characters?
Again, all the time. Amy is actually loosely based on a girl I met in France. There’s a little piece of me in each of my characters as well. I’m an anal-retentive planner like Mason is, and I hate it when people screw with my plan – just like he does. J

Do you find yourself going back to the same inspiration for each story or is it always something different?
Always something different for me. Sometimes I have an idea for a character in my head and I fall in love with them before they’re even on the page. Other times, it’s a scene or a plot line that sticks with me and I have to build the characters around the plot. I read a lot, and I try to read new authors as well as my favorites to keep adding to my creative well and I try to take from real life experiences and emotions, particularly.

When do you write?  Early morning? During the day sometime or all day?  After the kids go to bed?
All of the above. Early morning for me usually means the witching hour between midnight and three a.m. During the day is usually reserved for business writing stuff, since I have a day job. But after the kids at work go down for nap, I have a couple hours to do things like this interview. J And then at night, after the house is asleep, I write. Usually from 10 – midnight or on those late nights until 2 or 3 am. Some weekends, I do what I call a B&N day and I spend the entire day at Barnes & Noble. From like 10 until 7 or 8 at night. Every once in a while I’m there until they close at 9.

How do you feel about marketing your book?
Sometimes it’s a ton of fun. And sometimes I would rather be writing than promoting. I make my own book trailers. This is the one for Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_PrU15x2Q  And that’s really fun. I enjoy doing that. And I’ve had a lot of fun doing some blog touring. Talking about writing and books is cool.

What social sites do you feel work best for marketing?
I’ve recently become obsessed with Twitter. I use it to promote my books and other author’s books. To connect with readers, authors, editors, agents. It’s a great tool. I actually just got together through Twitter with Emma Lai to do an anthology.

Do you like to pitch stories to your publisher or do you wait until you have written the story and have a final manuscript to turn in?
I love to sell on proposal. It’s exciting and gives me a deadline. I work well on a deadline, even a really short one. Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce sold on proposal, after I’d written about 1/3 of the initial draft, and was on a six week deadline. It was insane. But also really good for me.

Is there any other genre that you would love to try writing?  If so, what is it?
I would love to write some urban fantasy.

Do you always/ever see yourself as the heroine/hero when you write a story?
Sometimes. My first paranormal romance (as yet unpublished) was sparked by a dream in which I was the main character. So that’s a cool kind of phenomenon.

Just for fun, I have a few personal questions,

Favorite 5

1)       Favorite Male Actor  - Vin Diesel

2)       Favorite vehicle - Mustang

3)       Favorite way to relax – Bubble bath and a good book

4)       Favorite ice cream – Ben & Jerry’s Magic Brownie (even tho I’m lactose intolerant)

5)       Favorite outfit – I have entirely too many clothes, so this one is really HARD. I have this really pretty shirt that I got in France that is blue and white stripes, but the back is held together with four red and blue bows. It’s adorable, shows off my tattoo and goes really well with a cute little blue skirt I have.

And for a bonus:  If you could pick any place in the world to live, besides where you are now, where would it be?  (Of course, without the hindrance of jobs or money needed)

France. Probably La Rochelle, but maybe Carcassonne or Paris. It’s gorgeous there. And I love a lot about living in France.

Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it?

Sure. The book I’ve been talking about is Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce which went on sale in December, 2012. It was published with Loose Id, www.loose-Id.com

Amy Easton’s idea for the perfect Thanksgiving doesn’t include giving up the last can of cranberry sauce to a stranger, no matter how sexy he is. She will make this holiday special for Dad even if it kills her. And that means getting everything on the shopping list.

Mason Rider is home to help his mom through her first postdivorce holiday, but when he finds the seductive blonde who body-checked his grocery cart standing in Mom’s kitchen, he doesn’t know what to do. Sharing Thanksgiving with this woman and her father wasn’t part of his damned plan.

Who would’ve thought that a simple can of cranberry sauce could lead to holiday disaster? Or to happily ever after?

Okay, one last thing before we let you leave us today… Do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?  I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share but it's totally up to you.

I got Fifty Shades of Chicken for Christmas and it’s INCREDIBLE. I made Popped-Cherry Pullet the other night and it was the best meal I’ve eaten in weeks! I did modify the recipe a bit, so here’s my spin on it.

You take a whole chicken, season it up with salt, pepper, a little olive oil and cherry juice (from the can of whole, pitted cherries) I also added some garlic cloves to the mix. Let it marinate in this mix for at least an hour, and up to overnight. Lay it, breast down on a rack in a pan over cherries, put a few cherries and garlic cloves inside the chicken. Bake at 400 for 40 minutes, baste twice, flip over, breast-side up and baste, return to oven at 375 for another 40-50 minutes.

Thanks so much for having me. It was a blast.

~ Rach

What a delicous recipe, i'm sure my hubby would love it! Thanks so much for talking with us today :)
Readers, make sure you get your copy of Spicy with a Side of Cranberry Sauce!

Until next time, happy reading !!

Book Blitz: The Last Resort

The Last Resort

Toy Davis

A group of college friends decide to spend winter break at Flow's cabin. They invite Hailey to join them for the first time, and she agrees to go because of her crush on Flow. Unbeknown to most of them, this cabin is known as the last resort due to the families that were killed there. The situation changes as people start to disappear. Hailey is the only person to notice, and can't seem to get the others to listen. She's determined to make them see the danger before its too late.

 Excerpt:

Hailey eyed her room as she walked to the bed with a bag in hand. She had checked all five rooms; this one was the biggest room. It was also the only one with a bathroom. Nice, she thought, when she had seen it. Someone else’s bags were in here, but she tossed them out. Only she deserved to be here.

Her lips curved into a seductive smile as she eyed her purple lacy panties. Perhaps Flow deserves these. Her smile deepened. He still can have it if he chooses to, she giggled with the thought. She wanted him.

She pulled out her make-up kit, and bottle of bubble bath. She walked to the connected bathroom and set the bubble bath on the edge of the Jacuzzi tub. His family really does have good taste, she silently complimented. Her feet slowed as she came to the sink. On the edge of it was a razor. Her head tilted. Fear wrapped around her heart. Stop being silly, it’s a razor. It probably belongs to whomever had this room before me.

She was still uneasy as she looked down at it. She forced her shoulders to relax. Silly, she scolded herself. Forcing her hand out, she picked the black thing up. It felt cold and wet. Her brows fell as her hand released it. It landed in the sink. Her eyes grew as she stared at the bright blood on her hands. Her eyes slid up, stopping on a bottle of pills. Her breath stopped. On its label read: Valium, Dayrit Hailey, 1000-mg. They were her pills.

Her head snapped up, meeting her own fear filled eyes. Flashes crossed her memory. The padded room that lit up as the lighting shot up to the sky. A thin, cold sheet wrapped around her body, as nurses approached her with needles.

“No,” she said as she shook her head. She dropped her make-up kit. “This can’t be happening.” Fear watered her eyes as she ran out of the room. She ran from her memories. Escaping to the bottom floor to get some answers.

About the Author:

Toy Davis has always used writing as an escape from the boring reality she found herself in. She writes stories she enjoys, and hopes others will enjoy it as well. A lot of her stories and novels begin with a 'what if', and then become so much more. She loves food and dancing as well, and this is usually reflected in writing. Today she lives in California with her long time boyfriend, and two bratty cats. For more info go to www.facebook.com/authortoydavis .

Book Blitz: Morrigan

Morrigan

Laura DeLuca

Shuffled from place to place in the foster system, Morrigan doesn't know the meaning of home. Plus, she is different. She has power over fire, the ability to move objects with her mind, and glimpse into the future. Just when she believes her life can’t get any stranger, she discovers her true identity.

Filtiarn, a knight with a dark past and a surprising secret, has been tasked with guiding the heir of Tír Na NÓg through countless perils to be returned to her family. Once Morrigan has been reunited with her mother and grandmother, their triad can save the forgotten land of magic from being devoured by an ancient evil.

Excerpt:
“Guardians!” A low snarl emanated from the back of his throat. “What are you doing with Guardians?”

“Stop it! Sit down!”

Morrigan wasn’t sure who she was addressing, the man or the animals. Luckily, they both obeyed her command. She stepped in between them to avoid any further confrontations. The cats took a seat on either side her legs, but their posture hardly relaxed. They still glared warily at the newcomer, even though their hisses died down to an occasional soft growl.

“Dirty, filthy beasts!” Tiarn snarled as he climbed to his feet. “I hate Guardians.”

“They’re just little cats,” Morrigan told him. “What’s the big deal?”

“Just cats! Hah!” He was standing at a careful distance, even though they had started licking their paws nonchalantly. “They are much more than simple cats! Though even those I find distasteful.”

Morrigan narrowed her eyes. “What do you mean?”

“Never mind. It does not matter.” Tiarn dismissed her question with a wave of his hand. “They are not coming with us.

 “They most certainly are coming!”

Tiarn growled again. “I beg to differ with you, Your Highness. They would only get in the way.  Possibly even get killed.”

Danu raised her head from her grooming to hiss at him again, as though she had taken that last statement as a personal threat. The strange reaction of her faithful sidekicks made Morrigan wonder again just how much Tiarn could be trusted. She also wondered why, when she wasn’t sure she could trust him, she still felt the undeniable urge to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him.

“If they stay here alone, they’ll definitely get killed or at least sent to the pound,” Morrigan told him. “I can’t let that happen. So, they’re coming. End of story.”

Tiarn’s eyes flashed dangerously, and he looked like he wanted to argue, but thought better of it. “Very well, Princess. Bring your mongrel felines. Just keep in mind that Guardians and lycans do not mix well.”

“Lycans?” Morrigan repeated.

A sick feeling started to settle in her stomach, as the truth of his words sunk in. It all started to make sense—his hairy arms and chest, his reaction to the cats, even his earlier comment about smelling her out. Her dark knight had a much darker side than she had ever seen in her dreams.

“Why yes, Your Majesty. Did you not realize? You are a witch and a sorceress. And I, your faithful traveling companion, am a lycan—a werewolf.”

Today we have the fabulous Taryn Kincaid :)

Hi Taryn, great to see you !  Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Here’s the new “Bio” I’ve been playing around with:

Taryn Kincaid lives in beautiful Bora Bora.  Or wishes she did.  When she's not parasailing up and down the Hudson River, taking care of her aging pet walrus, or volunteering at the local animal shelter [oh, HELL, no], she loves to arrange her voodoo doll-pin collection and practice chanting.  Taryn is dedicated to eradicating the kardashians and Honey Boo-Book from the face of the earth, along withThe Bieb and sparkly vampires.  At this moment, she is busy adjusting the tin foil to throw the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) off her trail.  She hangs around a lot onFacebook and Twitter with her trillions of fans and popsin at Goodreads from time to time.  You can catch her onher website, http://tarynkincaid.com, and her blog, http://dreamvoyagers.blogspot.com where she lives for comments!

What do you think ?

Hmmm, you know I think you have something there , doesn't sound bad at all !!  So tell me, what did you want to be when you were growing up or did you always want to be a writer?

Most of the time.  I did lapse a little from time to time, when I thought it  might be nice to be president of the United States. Or queen.

Oh QUEEN has always fascinated me too, or at least being in a royal family like that. Not that you couldn't be Queen or President but you do the writing thing very well !   When did you first start writing?

Early. And often. One of my first works was “The Weatherman Saves the Day.” It involved astronauts and the Itsy-Bitsy Spider. With beautiful illustrations. On construction paper. My first published work, you might say. Sort of self-published.

Very nice :)  Kids are so creative at a young age.  You should try publishing that as a children's book now....  What is a typical writing day like for you?

Don’t actually have typical writing days. If there is nothing on the screen, nothing at all, just the big white document of death, I cannot seem to sprinkle pixels except on certain Saturday mornings. If there is already something on the page, requiring slashing or burning, I can do that, if I must, at night. But I generally work on weekends, if I am not distracted by social media and emails, and tend to pack it in around 3 or 4 pm. Yes, I’m totally disciplined. (I do not recommend this method for anyone. Not anyone. Including me.)

I don't think it's a bad thing at all to follow a specific routine like that.  What is your favorite part of writing?  Is there anything you don’t like about being a writer?

I love the beginnings. I really love the endings. I don’t mind edits.  I hate, hate HATE promotion.

I'm totally with you on the promotion.  It just takes up so much time.  What is your favorite length of book to write?  (Short story, novella, full length novel)

All my published books are novellas. The full-length novels are friends with the dust bunnies. (You will note I did not say plot bunnies.) I enjoy that length. Get in, get out. My original critique partners would be amazed because in the beginning I tended to overwrite. Really, really, really overwrite. (See what I mean?) Why pick only one metaphor or simile or adjective when 16 will do?

Why?

I like the crispness. The sparseness. The discipline imposed upon me to write leaner and sparer. To get in, get out.  Short as the 1Night Stands are, I recently wrote and submitted a short story for Decadent Publishing’s The Edge series. It’s only about 20 pages. LOVED writing it.

I actually like novellas and shorts myself.  Is there a to-be-read waiting on your bedside table?

Let me put it to you this way. I have a Kindle (my second, having worn out the 1st), a Kindle Paperwhite, a Nook and an iPad. (Don’t judge.) They are carried around in my work bag, my handbag and stashed in various rooms of my home. Every time someone on a social media site says, “Oh, look, free,” or…”I really, really LOVED this book,” my reaction is “Shiny!” Click. Download.

Ok, now for some fun, I have a few personal questions...

Favorite 5

1)  Favorite Holiday: Halloween. Well, I write erotic paranormals, what else would I say? FROST is a Valentine’s story, though. So there’s that. Who doesn’t love chocolates?

2) Favorite Drink: Aside from coffee? Currently, my mixed drink of choice is a Dark & Stormy. (And not just  because my last two releases were Lightning and Thunder. LOL!) You make it with Gosling’s Black Rum (if you can’t find it, another dark rum will do), ginger beer and a slice of lime. Yum. And tingly on the tongue.

3)  Favorite Author: Too many to choose.

4)  Favorite Book: Again. See above.

5)  Favorite Animal: Steak.

And for a bonus:  What is a typical mood for you?  And is your mood different when you’re writing?

I am mainly crabby.  As anyone who knows me in real life can attest.

Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it?

FROST…A 1Night Stand story from Decadent Publishing. (Sleepy Hollow Book 3)

Here’s the Blurb and Excerpt:

Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.

Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow, channeling his lustful impulses into his art—until his muse deserts him and his temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.

When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle?

EXCERPT:

Dagney followed her sister’s glance, and her heart flipped like a gymnast unable to nail a vault. Darkness swathed the gallery with the exception of the lights above or below each of the paintings. The large man emerging from the shadows held her rapt. Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her with such force she didn’t even see Lily and Campbell leave. The blast of raw desire crumpled her to the floor. Her gaze remained riveted on the tall hunk of ferocious male stalking toward her, radiating undiluted carnality. He set something carefully on the floor and grasped her by the elbows, his touch surprisingly gentle when he lifted her to her feet.

“I’m Maxwell Raines.”

Yeah. No kidding. Who else could a guy so hot, so studly, possibly be?

She told herself not to swoon. Ordered herself not to swoon. But, Goddess, that rumbling voice. More potent than a train barreling over the tracks. And he smelled so good. Sinfully masculine. A bit of musk, a bite of pine, an essence of dark, smoky nights. Sexy scents. Reminiscent of tangled satin sheets that had been given a good work-out.

Her legs turned to rubber, and she doubted they’d support her on their own. She’d be mortified if he’d have to scrape her puddled body up again. But he hadn’t yet relaxed his grip. Could she bullshit her way through the meeting without collapsing? “You’re late,” she said.

“I’m never late.”

“Well, the party’s over, Mr. Raines.” She waved a hand around the empty room.

“Depends on your perspective.”

“You’re big on perspective, are you?”

“I’m a painter.” A brief shrug accompanied his blunt words. “Obvious connection.”

“Right. But as you can see, everyone’s left.”

“You haven’t.” He gazed down at her, a black brow flaring. “And you’re what I’m here for.”
