Author, author... guest Veronica Tower

... read all about it !!

Has anyone out there ever let their husband or their boyfriend take a picture of them naked? How about letting him film the two of you having sex? It seems like every time we turn around another celebrity is having her pictures plastered across the internet, but more and more people continue to put their most private moments on film. It’s fun and exciting—at least when both lovers want to do it.

But what do you do if your boyfriend is the only one obsessed with the camera? The idea of having your private moments caught on filmturns your stomach but he can’t stop talking about it, pulling out the camera and pushing you to just relax a little and have some fun with him.

That’s the situation my heroine finds herself facing in my new novel, Please Stop Filming. April loves Mark and wants to make a life with him, but his obsession with the camera is becoming a serious problem in their relationship. Should she compromise her values or stand firm and risk losing her man?

What would you do in this situation? To find out what April does, please check out, Please Stop Filming.

I hope you enjoy it!

BLURB:
April has a problem. Her boyfriend, Mark, has developed a new hobby – setting up a video camera to record them in the bedroom – and he’s not taking no for an answer. The more that April resists and complains, the more certain Mark becomes that she is the one with the problem – that she is the one refusing to be supportive. Desperate for a return to some normalcy in their relationship, April agrees to make a single movie, never dreaming that Mark would take this as permission to invite a stranger into their home to operate the camera. Will there be no end to Mark’s madness? Will anything induce him to Please Stop Filming?

18 + EXCERPT:

They had another fight about Mark’s camera at the breakfast table the next morning.
“You know the problem wasn’t only because we moved further down the couch,” Mark said.
“What?”
“Even before we moved,” Mark explained, “the camera was missing a lot of our action.”
April sighed and suppressed the desire to say something crude and emasculating.
Mark didn’t seem to notice her restraint. “You were doing some incredible things to my cock and the camera missed a lot of it. The same things happened when I mounted you from behind. You are beautiful and I know that scene was hot, but that doesn’t shine through the way I think it should have. I’m going to have to give this some thought.”
“Perhaps,” April chose her words very carefully. “You should think about giving up the camera or at least putting it away for a while.”
“What?” Mark asked. It was painfully obvious that this idea had never occurred to him.
“Look what’s happening to us, Mark. Two weeks without sex and then that debacle in bed last night.”
Mark spoke past a mouthful of Cheerios. “Those two weeks were your fault. I was trying to fuck you the entire time.”
April felt her temperature rising but she managed to keep control of herself. “I was eager to have sex too—just not in front of your camera. You weren’t willing to compromise on that.”

“And neither were you,” Mark reminded her.

Author, author...

...read all about it !!

Hi and welcome, can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m an author with two faces, so to speak. I write crime fiction under my own name, and, as Eve Summers, I author romantic novels that sometimes slip into erotica.

What or who initially inspired you to become a writer?

You’ll laugh: it was a man. Long, long, long ago, I thought that to impress a guy, I had to be mysterious and intriguing. I imagined that saying “I’m writing a short story” would be so much more interesting to a 20-year old than “My bra is red and lacy, would you like to see it?”

What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?

My friends read my romance books, the ones that slip into erotica, and always ask with a knowing nudge how much research I do. Have I really done it in the cockpit of a boat (I Want To Know What Love Is), in the bath (A Slave Of My Own Desire), in an elevator (Elevator With A View)? No, no, and unfortunately not.

On the plus side, I’ve had most of the cocktails and single malt whiskies mentioned in Fiji On Fire, Fiji On Ice. And I’ve been to Fiji. And I’ve loved: strongly, exclusively and steadfastly. So, yup, in a nutshell - lots of research.

Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch?

From my computer chair, I can see a stretch of green New Zealand bush inhabited by colourful parrots, and, just beyond it, the blue of the ocean. So you’ll forgive me if I confess that I always write in my study, on my computer, right eye on the text, left eye on the birds outside my window….

As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?

I enjoy reading thinking women’s fiction, like Jane Porter’s or Joshilyn Jackson’s books. While I do like the formula of a happy ever after, I also value originality and characters who feel real and whom I’d like to keep as friends.

What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper??  And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?

Throughout the whole writing process, from toying with the core idea to third manuscript revision, I always keep a notebook handy. You know, one of those spiral-bound things, not something you need to switch on only to find out the battery’s dead…. The pages are full of scrawls that even I can’t decipher: “Heroine goes to d-ist” (dentist? dermatologist? taxidermist?), “Stars need darkness to shine” (did I read that or make it up?), “What if hero has a hypochondriac ex-wife?”

I do a bit of plotting, just enough to get me started, but not so much that I’m bored stiff by the time I sit down in front of the computer. And then I write… no, I lie. Then I try to write, except real life doesn’t get in the way….

When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?

Being a mom. Reading. Walking the dog on the beach. Watching mindless TV series because I’m too tired to write and too wired to go to sleep. Playing bridge, poker, board games. Planning my next overseas trip….

Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers??

Once, to get a guy’s attention at a party, I went skinny-dipping with another guy. Man, to I know how to impress men, or what? ;-)

For fun, I have a few personal questions,

Your Favorite 5

1) Favorite color - blue
2) Favorite dessert - used to be chocolate, but now it’s strawberry mousse
3) Favorite Season - autumn
4) Favorite sad song- Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody
5) Favorite Romantic movie – Casablanca

And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation??

Any Greek island, as long as it has a beach, an olive grove and a seafood restaurant.

Where can our readers find you??

Blurb:
After five years of no contact, Abigail Franklin wants only one thing from Luke Taylor: half an hour of his time to see the son he doesn’t know he has.

Excerpt

Facebook is weird. It lets you list your favorite movies (Casablanca) and music (Snow Patrol) and books (Joshilyn Jackson), it shows updates about your day (another late night at the office, Christopher was asleep by the time I got home), and yet it fails to capture the very essence that makes you - you.
Growing up, I wore homemade clothes because my parents couldn’t afford labels or even store-bought dresses. It made me feel inferior, but also loved beyond belief, because every garment I wore had been lovingly designed, cut and sewn by my mom. Where do I write that on Facebook?
My short-term goal is to work saner hours, my dream is for my son to get to know his dad, and my secret fantasy involves a happily-ever-after with Luke. Facebook remains totally oblivious of all that.
I choose not to confirm Luke as a friend. A Facebook friendship would be so much less than what we once had.
That leaves me one option: I have to go to the reunion.

Before we let you go today, do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?  I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share but it's totally up to you.

Ride a Cowboy; Save a Horse
by
Honey Jans

Savanna Brown returns to Wyoming to save the reputation of the cowboy she ran away from on their wedding night. She makes the ranch owner an offer he can’t refuse if he wants to hang onto his ranch. She’ll pretend to come back to him until the talk dies down, then she’ll be on her way. Rafe Halliday is thrilled that his plan to lure his bride back to his place has worked. Now all he has to do is focus on getting sexy Savanna back into his bed where he figured their links of passion, love, and sex will complete their bond. But will love happen with evil forces trying to tear them apart? To find out lasso a copy of, “Save a Horse; Ride a Cowboy,” today. It’s sure to singe your lariat.

Excerpt:

“You’re going to do what?”

Savanna Brown gazed at the mutinous expression on her cousin’s pretty mahogany face, willing her to understand. “Rafe's reputation is in shreds since I left. I need, deep in my soul, to set things right. Please try to understand, Raven, I have to go back.”

“Back into the lion's den.” Raven shook her head her dark curls shaking as she closed the door of her at her law office. “Listen to me, cuz. You'll be going on a fool's errand. You don't think the man will actually take you back with open arms after you deserted him on your wedding night three weeks ago do you?”

“Rafe's housekeeper is going on a long deserved vacation. I'm all set to fill in for her at the ranch.”

“So she's the one who's been feeding you all these gloom and doom stories about him.” Raven scowled. “It could be a set up you know.”

“No, Rafe's not that devious.” Savanna added sadly, “He can't even tell a decent white lie. That's how I found out that he doesn't really love me. He only married me because of my family connections.”

Raven shook her head. “You, a housekeeper? I can't picture it.”

Savanna shrugged. “How hard can it be? You mop a few floors, open a few cans. I should even have enough spare time to finish the series of endangered species photos I was working on. It's the best work I've ever done and my editor said it could lead to some prestigious work.”

“That's just an excuse, Savanna, and you know it. You aren't responsible for ruining the cowboy any more than your mother was responsible for ruining your father. That was all our grumpy old grandfather's imagination. You can't fix the past by doing this.”

“That's not why.” Savanna noted Raven’s disbelief and sighed. “Maybe that's part of it, but the plain truth is I love the hardheaded, stubborn cowboy and I can't see his life ruined.”

“Somebody’s sure in an all fired hurry, boss.”

Rafe leaned forward in his rocker. His fatigue after a long dusty day on the range melted as he watched the silver Jeep Cherokee kick up a plume of dust in its wake. It sped toward them down the long ranch driveway. “It's the wife.”

“Wife.” Zeke Taylor, his ranch foreman, made the word sound like a curse. “I can't believe she has the guts to show her face around here after hightailing it on your wedding night.”

Rafe noted the sour expression on Zeke's wizened face, but ignored it. This wasn't up for debate. “I want you to spread the word. She's to be treated with respect.”

“I don't get it. The woman runs roughshod over you and you're going to lay out the red carpet for her.”

“Don't worry about it, Zeke.” Rafe smiled, adding confidently, “I've got everything under control this time around.”

“What you plannin' to do, sweet talk her into sticking around this time?” Zeke scowled and spat on the ground.

Rafe shook his head, his jaw tightening. “No, it'll take more than sweet talk to bind a fierce saddle shy filly like Savanna to my side. Don't you worry, I've got her figured out and before she knows it I'll have her tied to my side.”

Zeke slowly got up from the creaky rocker, slapping his battered Stetson against his leg. “I hope you know what you're doing, boy.”

“So do I,” Rafe said softly as he watched Zeke stomp toward the bunk house. He had to make this work. His future depended on it.

The Jeep came to a halt amid a cloud of dust. The inevitability of the moment hit him hard. He never doubted that one day Savanna would return, and when she did he would be the one in control. But first, he planned to extract a little payback before they settled down to domestic bliss. Savanna got out of the jeep and Rafe swallowed the lump in his throat. Dying embers of the sun caught the red highlights in her tawny dark hair turning it to molten fire and made her mocha skin look like the finest silk.

As she walked toward him, Rafe admired her ethnic beauty anew struck by the confident way she moved. That was what had attracted him in the first place six short weeks ago when she'd come to the area to shoot a series on the Grand Teton wildlife.

Rafe noted the proud angle of her chin and the keen intelligence in her sparkling golden eyes, passed down from her gypsy mother he’d heard her say. Dealing with her was going to be a challenge. And oh, how he loved challenges. The first moment they met, he'd known he had to have her and he almost had until she ran off on their wedding night. Three weeks later he still wasn't sure what spooked her, but he knew the best way to treat a spooked filly was put blinders on her. Instead, Rafe put up a blinder of a small white lie. Sure it was true that there'd been unmerciful gossip, but he could take it. And yes, his expansion loan had been turned down but there were ways to keep from selling up.

Today's Author Spotlight is on...

Café Mazon
Crystal Hubbard

The tables are turned on a serial rapist and his dimwitted accomplice when they attack a woman unlike any of their previous victims.

Excerpt:
He'd first seen her the last time he was here, after he'd been interrupted by strange voices and footsteps.  He hated being interrupted, especially since he'd been having such a good time, but in the end it all worked out.  If he hadn't taken the time to pound Terry for getting distracted with that damn magic book, he wouldn't have seen his latest flame.  She'd rounded the corner and headed straight for the café.
Dee and Terry had eaten there a few times.  Dee didn't much care for the aloof manner of the staff or the snooty misspelled French name, but the food was good and you got a lot of it.
Terry had complained the whole time, but Dee had sat in the car all the rest of the night, waiting for his new target to leave the diner.  She didn't come out until after the lunch rush.
Dee followed her to the subway, then took Terry to McDonald's for a few Happy Meals.  Later that night, they went back to see if she'd return to the diner.
She did.
Every night, same time, same corner, same routine until Dee couldn't stand it anymore.
Now, he finally had her.  He pulled out his hunting knife, thrilled with the clean grab.
He used the tip of his knife to trace the center seam of the back of her pants.  The halves fell away, revealing two rounds of golden flesh. If her ass wasn’t God’s finest work, it had to be in the top ten.
“No panties, huh?” Dee smirked.  “You dressed for our date, I’ll give you points for that.”
She glanced over her shoulder as the blade lightly moved along her spine.  "Are you about finished?" she asked with a slight yawn.
Her voice was a low, silky, disinterested growl.  To Dee, it was as sexy as it was annoying.
"Baby," Dee sneered, slicing through the backstrap of her bra, "I haven't even got good and started."
She turned around, slowly lowering her arms.  "Three women have been assaulted and killed around here.  Your work?"…

Listen to Your Heart – Olympic Series book 2

K.T. Bishop

Olympic Curling medalist Robin Friesz was enjoying life living in Stockholm, Sweden. Robin did not have to become a Swedish resident as long as he played for the professional football team. When the league folded, he had a choice: become a citizen or return back to the United States. His girlfriend, Inga Johan, provided a problem. Inga, an Olympic skating medalist, was popular in her native land. They were in love and she pushed him to become a citizen. Robin was in a puzzle.

About the Author:

K.T. Bishop is a long-time Southerner, who has lived his entire life in the Deep South. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Oct. 18, 1969. He attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Stillman College in 1992.  He's a Pulitzer prize winning news reporter and who resides on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This will be his eighth book at Red Rose Publishing.

Excerpt:

When Robin found refuge underneath the shaded tree, a sharp pain suddenly struck his heart. He exhaled heavily and cringed at the pain.

He quickly traced the source of discomfort that unexpectedly tickled his heart.

An image of Inga swam inside his head, which made the pain vanish. A smile filled the corners of his mouth during the visit down memory lane.  He stumbled into a spoiled, arrogant foreign actress at the Vancouver International Airport.

Robin’s heart melted at the first sight of Inga, falling in love with her. She initially hated his guts, but Cupid stuck a love arrow into her heart. Admiration grew into attraction, which their love helped the other capture medals at the Winter Olympics.

As Robin looked upward and gazed into the bright sunrays, the time had come to tell Inga the truth. He had to be upfront with the love of his life.

He stretched his body on the bench for a few seconds and ran back home for an intense one-on-one talk with Inga. “She’s not going to like what I have to say, but I must get this off my chest and level with her.”

While Inga never dropped hints of marriage, Robin always understood they would eventually become Mr. and Mrs. Friesz someday. The timing wasn’t right. He stood minutes away from risking a life of happiness over his American stance.
