What is your favorite thing about being an author???
Nicola Cameron:
Considering that I’m sitting here at 3:09 PM in a towel,
having just taken a shower after spending the morning doing promo work and
vacuuming, and that I’ll be writing as soon as I finish guest post this well
into the evening, I would have to say that my favorite thing about being an
author is that it’s a job where you can make your own hours. As long as you
make word quota, it doesn’t matter when you do it – 4 AM, around lunchtime, in
the evenings, whenever.
Which is good because I, like many others in the writing
dodge, suffer from insomnia. I love the idea of getting up with the sun and
working in the quiet hours of dawn (oh, who am I kidding? I live with a husband
and five cats, one of whom meows almost constantly and another who likes to
fight with the two other girls. There is no such thing as quiet in my house),
but that just doesn’t work out 99% of the time. So I sleep when I can finally
lure my brain to turn off, and write whenever I’m awake, and try to juggle
everything else in whatever time remains.
Granted, good reviews and positive email from readers are
always extremely nice (and very welcome). And then there are the wonderfully
unexpected compliments, like the one I got after officiating at my best friend’s
wedding last weekend. After the ceremony I was sitting with my sister and brother-in-law,
a friend who’s also a writer and his daughter, and two other folks when a woman
came up to our table and started raving about one of my books (turns out BFF
had been promoting my work to her), asking if there would be another one on the
way. After thanking her I said I’d definitely have more books out soon.
Beaming, she promised she’d buy them, then headed back to her own table.
I turned back to see my sister, BIL and writer friend
staring at me like I've just grown another head. They knew I was a writer –
they just didn’t know I had readers,
too.
"It's nice to have fans," my friend said wryly. I
just grinned and shrugged. A little external validation is a good thing.
BOOK PROMO
Since I’m pretty sure someone will have already covered
BA:ME, the book I want to promote is my brand spankin’ new MMF fantasy erotic
romance Deep Water (Olympic Cove #3) from Evernight Publishing.
DEEP WATER (Olympic Cove 3) by Nicola Cameron (MMF, M/M)
Olympic Cove -- home of Greek gods, accidental disciples,
handsome mermen, and all the snark you can handle -- gets a new resident in the
form of Griffin Moore, a British marine biologist with a terrible secret. But
Griffin's hopes for a peaceful last vacation evaporate when he learns that he's
the reincarnated lost mate of none other than Poseidon, God of the Sea. Can
Poseidon stop the deadly killer inside Griffin's brain, or is he destined to
lose his agapetos yet again?
Author Bio
Nicola
Cameron is a married woman of a certain age who really likes writing about sex.
When not writing about sex, she likes to knit. And she may be rather fond of
absinthe. Well, it’s true!
Okay,
okay, the full version: Nicola Cameron has had a healthy interest in sex since
puberty, but it wasn’t until 2012 that she decided to write about it. Turns out
that the skills picked up during her SF writing career transfer rather nicely
to erotic romance and erotica — who knew?

Doris O'Connor:
You know, I
still have to pinch myself sometimes, when I get an e-mail from a reader, or I
see my name in print. Every new contract that I sign, every release day, I
still get incredibly excited, just like I did with the first one. Perhaps more
excited, because I know the process now, and the whole thing is less
overwhelming, if no less bunny hop inducing.
That’s
always me, on release day, bouncing around like an overexcited bunny J
Of course
release day is the culmination of a long process. From that very first germ of
an idea that makes my muse sit up and go Ooooh,
now then… to opening that blank word document, tapping away, chuckling,
sniffing, despairing with my ornery characters, until you type the two magic
words The End.
Then the
editing process starts, sending it to betas, implementing their suggestions,
and sending it off to the publisher. Then the inevitable inbox stalking for
what hopefully will be a “We would be pleased to publish…” e-mail. Then, more
stalking, cover art, edits, until finally the day arrives and this particular
literary baby is out on its own in the big wide world. For me every new story is another birth. Some
are far easier to birth than others, and with some I seem to be pregnant for
ever. Just like with my children, however, it’s all worth it in the end, and
I’m always more than ready to do it all again J
Telling my
characters’ stories is a privilege, and one that I never take for granted.
Knowing that my readers enjoy reading those stories is just the icing on the
cake. I always say, if I never got published again, I would still be writing. I
get twitchy, when I haven’t managed to write for a few days, and heaven forbid
my muse takes a holiday, and the voices in my head stay silent. That’s a far
too disconcerting feeling. Fortunately it never takes long for another hero to
start growling in my ears, or as was the case in this Anthology call, two
heroes.
Two yummy,
dominant men, as tough and dangerous as each other… yeah I had fun with that.
In fact this baby was one of my easiest to create, as Quinton and Zayden were
such strong voices in my head.
And that process,
the creation and telling of their stories…that is the greatest joy of being an
Author. J

Moira Callahan:
Creating
a character that my readers adore, and want to have for their very own. So much
so that they actually have to create a schedule amongst themselves to “share”
the character. Always makes me smile to know I was able to create someone that
they would welcome into their home with open arms.
I
won’t mention what else they may, or may not have been planning for the
characters…
Moira Callahan Bio
Moira
Callahan is a Canadian born and raised author. She loves to write, and only has
a few select criteria that have to be in each of her books. A great story,
steamy romance, and a HEA ending. The sub-genre isn’t as important to her as
making whatever she writes feel real, and in the moment to her readers.
To
that end she insists her characters be as real as everyday folks, even if they
are blessed with a little fictional fairy dust to make them anyone’s personal
fantasy. They must have faults, they must have a weakness, and they must have
soul. To that end she writes her characters with a mixture of traits – a dash
from herself, and something borrowed from a friend. This way the character is
as perfectly imperfect as any other person on the planet.

Jocelyn Dex:
My favorite thing about being a writer is the freedom. What
is this freedom, you ask? It’s the freedom to temporarily escape the trials and
tribulations of the real world and get lost in an imaginary one where I get to
make the rules. The freedom to get out of my head and get lost in my
characters' minds. The freedom to make decisions where I don't have to worry
about the consequences--only my characters do. Now, I’m not saying that I NEED
to escape from real life. It’s just a lot of fun!
Bio
Jocelyn writes paranormal and contemporary romances that
include humor, lust, love, and four-letter words on the way to a
Happily-Ever-After.

“Tiger’s Mate” by April Zyon
Streak
politics, and differences in opinions forced Kurt Owens to choose his own path.
While it may be outside of the law in many regards he sees it as ensuring
justice for the true victims of crimes when the system fails them. It’s his way
of seeing the guilty pay, and keeping his own inner beast in check with the
violence, and blood it craves.
Everyone
thinks having a super power would be great. Alexa Harold would beg to differ.
She’s been cursed to see ghosts, the dead not yet having gone to their final
resting place, or judgment, or wherever they belong. They track her down, and
harass her until she’s ready to go mad. Learning early in life what she needs
to avoid has been the only saving grace in keeping her sanity intact.
Then she
sees a man who couldn’t possibly be real. It was just her luck that such a prime
specimen would in fact be deceased. Only he isn’t, and he’s taking notice of
her. With a little temptation, some mystery, and a taunt he leaves her wanting
more.
Kurt never
thought he’d find his mate outside of the streak, or streak functions. While those
of a supernatural inclination aren’t exactly rare, they have had to be careful
and keep their population down. Alexa is the woman for him the only one he
could ever want or need. And when her life is put in danger by his own past
Kurt won’t stop until everyone understands to get to this tiger’s mate, they’ll
have to get through him.
“Dark Heart” by Elyzabeth M. VaLey
The world
is changing. Vampires are coming out and they’re not remotely similar to the
sensual Hollywood portrait made of them. Little by little, Shifters are being
unmasked and integration is waning. Panic is spreading. The government is
losing control. Private agencies, such as SOA struggle to find a solution, but
as the darkness grows, can one even exist?
Ten years
ago, Daryl Jones lost his pack to a group of demon vampires. Since then, he not
only lost his will to battle for good, his life has become a spiral of
drinking, fighting and fucking anything in sight. In his opinion, a pretty
perfect existence. Until, he meets the new SOA representative sent to convince
him to go back to the lab. With mile long legs, a tight little ass and a smile
to kill for, when she offers him a bargain, how can he possibly refuse?
Silvia
Adams, has one mission: convince Daryl Jones to work for SOA again. The agency
needs him to get back into the lab and help develop a serum to neutralize the
growing number of vampires. She knew it wouldn’t be easy task, but with her job
on the line, she’ll do anything it takes, including, bargaining with the
shifter and surrendering to her deepest desires. Only problem is, she might
have bartered for more than she can handle.
“Resisting His Mate” by Lynn Burke
Warrick
Keaton eludes a forced pairing with one of his kind. No one is going to choose
his mate for him, not when he wants nothing to do with being tied down to a
woman. He never expects fate to intervene in the form of a freezing, barely
alive female. With his independence in jeopardy, Warrick fights his inner
hawk's desire to stake a claim on her.
Clare Byron
longs to escape her domineering ex-husband, a jealous bear shifter determined to
keep her prisoner. She seizes the opportunity to run and lands in the arms of
another alpha—exactly what she doesn’t want or need.
For
Warrick, Clare is everything he's ever wanted in a mate and all that he's run
from.
For Clare,
Warrick is freedom in a way she never dreamed possible—the one man who will own
her heart yet give her wings to fly.

know about. Celo Valley, is a place where two species co-reside. The werewolves
keep the humans blind to their existence by being careful. Someone isn’t
following the rules. Someone is killing, with no regard for secrets. When
